Who we are

IWCA:
where solidarity
becomes supply chain.

The International Women's Coffee Alliance operates in 37 countries across 6 continents. Its work is commercial, concrete and measurable: it builds direct supply chains between women producers and buyers, one agreement at a time.

IWCA Italia is Chapter n. 30. Since 2025, it brings European buyers directly to women-led coffee farms in Brazil — boots on the red earth.

03 · The problem we're solving
The gap to close

Women grow
the coffee.
Women own less of it.

70%
of the coffee farm workforce is female
25%
of farms are managed or owned by women

This trip exists to close that gap in a commercial and measurable way: European buyers who meet producers directly, build lasting relationships, and return home with a sourcing strategy that holds over time.

04 · The why
Why this journey

You sell coffee.
Have you ever seen
where it's born?

Waking up on a fazenda in Minas. Picking ripe cherries alongside the producers. Understanding with your hands what you used to only understand with words.

Looking in the eye of the person who grows the coffee you sell. A name, a story, a table to sit around together. The cooperatives we visit are built by people too: seeing them from the inside changes the way you do sourcing, permanently.

Coming home changed. Everyone who joined the 2025 trip changed the way they source, talk about coffee, and explain prices to their customers. It will happen to you too.

The Cerrado Mineiro has one of the most defined identities in Brazilian coffee: a sharp dry season, clean cup profiles, and a Designation of Origin built decade by decade by those who have farmed it for generations.
Elas no Café: meet the producers who have chosen to organise within Expocacer. Tour the facilities and understand how thousands of individual harvests become one recognisable supply chain.
On-site cupping with the cooperative's own lots. The Cerrado in the cup, no interpretations needed.

Break
Wednesday 8 July · Tiradentes, MG

One evening in
Tiradentes.

Built on gold in the eighteenth century, crossed for centuries by mule trains carrying coffee along the Estrada Real. Tiradentes is the Minas that slows down: colonial stone streets, Brazilian baroque, dinners that stretch late into the night. After five days on the farms, it's exactly what you need.

Historic centre listed as Patrimônio Nacional. 18th-century colonial architecture, baroque churches, no chain stores.
A long dinner, authentic mineira cuisine. Cachaça, frango ao molho pardo, and good conversation.
An evening with no agenda. Talk. Reflect on what you're living through together.
